Nobody's Hero Chapter 6

My gaze ripped away from John as he looked over. "What's wrong?"

"Bobby's here," David yelled.

John looked back over. "I'm really sorry, I've got to go.."

"No worries," I said, putting on a fake smile.

He walked up the beach, leaving me in a trail of sadness, which was odd, knowing that I hardly knew him and we had just kissed.

I went back to my beach towel, Laying back down in the summer heat.

"Kmae, when are you gonna quit tanning? It's almost seven."

I turned over, and saw John again, almost a shadow beyond the dawn turning sky.

"I'm done," I said. "I think I'm gonna go change..."

"Why?" he shot back.

I think he realized there was only a piece of fabric between us.

"Because it's getting cold out," I said.

He sat down beside me. "Did you think I got too close?"

"No," I said, "I actually kinda liked it. But aren't you dating Dorothea?"

"No," he said. "We dated for a month in March, before you switched History classes."

"Oh," I said.

He looked at me, with that sweet smile. "You're too cute."

I blushed. "Thank you."

He looked over at the waves, making chills go down my spine. "So, do you like Richie?"

"He's cool," I said.

"Not as cool as me," Jon said.

"If you're so cool, then why doesn't your hotness melt anything?"

He laughed, and then gazed at me. "You are really pretty, you know."

I felt his voice melt me. "I haven't noticed." Why did I just say that?

He slowly got closer to me, until his breath could be felt on my body, sending chills up my spine.

Then, he pressed his warm lips to mine.
